I Love New Brighton 2019

So proud of the many young Youth Alive Trust volunteers who helped at I Love New Brighton 2019 today – amazing face painters, encouraging children on the giant slide and obstacle course, candy floss sales, playdough & water games with the toddlers, nurses volunteering on first aid and even rubbish collecting – you are legends! We were privileged to organise the event for the thousands of people who attended alongside our friends at New Brighton Project Eastern Community Sport and Recreation Inc Wellbeing New Brighton and the Christchurch City Council Coastal Burwood staff.

If you attended, please give your feedback via this short 6 question survey, to make the 2020 event event better:

Social Currency Partnership

We’re thrilled to announce a New Partnership with Social Currency Investments. It’s a Chartered Accounting and Business Advisory firm with a difference – part of their fees are used to create positive change in young people’s lives, at no extra cost to the client! If you need accounting support, and make a referral through Youth Alive Trust, we receive 10% of all fees paid – and this is ongoing! Check out their website and facebook to read about the services offered and the social impact they’re already having. Thanks to Lisa and the team!

Senior Daily Oscar 2019

Looking for after-school care in 2019? Our OSCAR is a bit different as it’s ONLY for School Years 5 – 8 (no little kids), and there’s a different programme everyday, including Kitchen Klub, Craft Club, Park Day, Sports Day and optional Basketball. FREE Van Pick up’s from Rawhiti Primary, New Brighton Catholic and South New Brighton Primary Schools, and if you work or study, you’ll probably qualify for an MSD subsidy! Get Sporty

Start talking to your child about what sport they are going to play in 2019 now. Hockey? Football? Rugby? League? Basketball? Table Tennis? Gymnastics? Swimming? So many local options – such as the upcoming registration for New Brighton Rugby Football Club. If $$ is the only thing stopping you from signing up, talk to the club or sport association as there is often help available. If not, our sister agency Compassion Trust also has referral agencies that may be able to help. Get sporty!

Breakfast Presentation – in Brief

Thanks for all those who attended this mornings breakfast. We were so encouraged by the early morning turn out and the positive feedback already received. If you were unable to make it, here’s 5 quick points we made in this mornings presentation:

1. We do LOTS of programmes and work with LOTS of children and young people!! We love our work! But our programmes are working with people, and people have many layers you can’t see in the fancy photos and videos, and many of them are hurting, living in dysfunction and looking for help. Our Programmes are a ‘means to an end’ of bringing hope, support, belonging, wellbeing and purpose through our youthworkers, counsellors, Mana Ake Kamahi, volunteers and referrals.

2. Congratulations to the winners of the 2018 Crichton Cobbers Legacy Trophies. Click Here for details.

3. Our focus for 2019…
• Increase in Mentors and Mentees
• Increase in support for Volunteers
• Increase in youthwork hours with teens
• Increase in referrals to support agencies
• Increase in youth led community projects

4. Three funding Shortfalls for 2019…
• Mentoring & Volunteer Coordinator
• Increase in Teen Mentoring Hours
• Replace a 12 seater Van

5. Thanks to all those who told stories and gave endorsements this morning. We created a short video asking young people, parents, teachers and community leaders what they thought about Youth Alive Trust – this is what they said… https://youtu.be/F012beAYX2E

If you, or someone you know, was interested in financially supporting our work through our Friends of YAT initiative, CLICK HERE for a pdf letter with more information. We aim to raise at least an extra $30,000 next year through individual giving. Can you help us achieve that goal?  Thanks!!!
