I Love New Brighton 2018 – THANKS

What an amazing event to be a part of today! Thanks to the 20+ Youth Alive Trust volunteers who helped with Facepainting, Bouncy Castles, Candy Floss, Pre-Schooler Art and the BBQ – you guys are a HUGE blessing to this community, not just today but all year around!  Over 7500 came to the event and it was the best and biggest yet!!  Here’s the highlights:

Beachside Playground Feedback

Have your say now, before it’s finished!! Either drop in every Tuesday at the Coastal-Burwood Community Boardrooms on Union St from 10am-4pm or send an email to: newbrighton@dcl.org.nz

Grief Workshop

The loss of our friend, Liam O’Sullivan, has caused widespread grief amongst his friends, youthworkers and the wider community. Grief comes in waves and we all react differently, but there is information and support to help you through it. Join us for a workshop lead by youth expert, Michael Hempseed, on understanding and managing Grief & Loss, as a way to support yourself and your friends. The one hour workshop will be a mixture of presentation and discussion. After the workshop there will be free Ice Cream for everyone, and opportunities to chat with youthworkers and each other in a relaxed setting. Resources will also be available to take home. Please let your friends know and share the event. Parents are also welcome. Kia Kaha

Together Time

It’s been a very difficult week for many local teens and our youth workers, and we need to keep looking after each other, particularly over the coming weeks. If you need some chill time with others who know how you’re feeling, or a chance to chat to one of the youthworkers, or just throwing a few Bballs or swinging a table tennis bat, we’re running ‘Hang Time’, from 4:00pm – 5:30pm from Monday to Thursday for the next two weeks at Grace Vineyard Beach Campus. Just drop-in on days or times that suit you or your mates. Secondly, for anyone who’d like the privacy and dedication of a formal one-on-one counselling session, please contact either James or Stephen, or email: office@yat.org.nz, to make an appointment with one of our counsellors. Kia kaha.
